Lisa A. Hernandez is an Attorney at Manes & Weinberg, LLC. She has spent a large part of her career litigating discrimination cases. Prior to representing the families of students and other individuals with disabilities, Lisa practiced primarily plaintiff-side employment law, representing individuals in all aspects of employment law and litigation, including claims of unlawful termination and discrimination, sexual harassment and whistle-blower retaliation.
Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University and then went on to graduate from Rutgers University School of Law-Newark. While in law school, she participated in the Special Education Law Clinic, where she represented families in their efforts to secure appropriate public school education for students with disabilities in Newark public schools. After spending several years in private practice, Lisa began the journey of securing appropriate services for her own child, which led her back to her true passion, protecting the rights of students with disabilities and their families.
Outside of work, Lisa is a Volunteer Attorney with Volunteer Lawyers For Justice, an Attorney Member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates (COPAA), a Founding Member of her school district’s Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG), and a member of the 2021 New Jersey Partners in Policymaking Class certified through the New Jersey Council on Developmental Disabilities, the Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities, and Disability Rights New Jersey.
Lisa is licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey and the District Court for the District of New Jersey, and is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. She lives in Union County with her husband and their three children.
